The Ontario Provincial Police updated their release on Tuesday November 8:
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Hawkesbury Detachment have charged a Vankleek Hill resident following a child pornography investigation.
On October 20, 2022, police arrested Justin MARTEL, 38-years-old of Vankleek Hill, Ontario and charged him with the following Criminal Code offences:
· Possession of Child Pornography, contrary to section 163.1(4).
· Luring a Person Under 18 years of age by means of Telecommunication, contrary to section 172.1(1)(a); and,
· Transmit Sexually Explicit Material to a Person Under 18 years of age, contrary to section 171.1(1)(a).
The accused will appear at the l’Orignal Court of Justice on November 16, 2022.
Many victims of child sexual abuse are so young that they cannot tell their story. Every time an image or video depicting that abuse is shared, that child is re-victimized.
Anyone wanting to make a difference is encouraged to go to protectchildren.ca and download the “Child Sexual Abuse – It Is Your Business” brochure from the Canadian Center for Child Protection. This is an important first step that can save a child.
Parents are reminded to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by speaking with their children regarding Internet safety. Parents and anyone interested in protecting children can find resources to assist them at cybertip.ca.
