The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an attempted motor vehicle theft that resulted in one person suffering potentially serious injuries.
On April 22, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., OPP officers responded to a call for a theft in progress in the town of Hawkesbury.
Two male suspects were observed attempting to steal a vehicle out of a private parking lot. The vehicle owner and family attempted to intercept the suspects. One person suffered potentially serious injuries as the suspects fled the scene. The victim was transported to hospital and remains in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are working on any leads they may have. There is no concern for public safety at this time.
