On Saturday May 11 at 10 am residents within the Vankleek Hill region will be hopping on their bikes to participate in the 2nd Annual Vankleek Hill Myeloma Canada Ride at Beau’s Brewery.
The ride is to raise awareness and funds for multiple myeloma, a little-known and incurable blood cancer.
Every day, 11 Canadians are diagnosed with myeloma, yet sadly most people have never heard of this 2nd most common blood cancer until they or a loved one are diagnosed. Because myeloma is not well known within the general public, signs and symptoms are often dismissed and so diagnosis can take months or even years.
Funds raised through The Myeloma Canada Ride are invested in curing and preventing myeloma through investment in Canadian research, accelerating equitable access to the best care, and improving lives by empowering and supporting all Canadians impacted by this devastating disease.”
This year’s fundraising goal is $20,000. You can choose between 2 routes: a shorter, more leisurely 30–40 km route, or a more challenging 70 – 90 km route. To register or donate, visit www.myelomaride.ca
